Comics Alliance: Racists Totally Freak Out Over Idris Elba Playing Norse God in 'Thor'

Well looks like a bunch of racists are upset that a black guy is playing Heimdall in the movie adaptation of Jack Kirby's very loose superhero take on the Norse pantheon. Stupid racism aside - Heimdall being black is your biggest problem? Look at the horrible fashion sense! Also everyone knows Thor is a ginger not some blond bimbo and Odin looks like the lovechild of Mad Eye Moody and Santa Claus (take a minute to let that image sink into your head...).

Seriously though, I see little problem with this as Kirby's Thor isn't remotely trying to be accurate to the actual mythology - it's a fun re-imagining of the mythos in superhero form.

What's wrong with a little superheroizing?
